Elevate your fashion photography skills and create images that command attention. Join us for this transformative workshop, and let’s explore the captivating world of hard light together.
Fashion photography’s priority is to grab your attention with the striking clothes, the models, the location, and the light!
All our past workshops have emphasized the use of Soft Light, replicating window light. This time, we will use the drama of Hard Light, emulating the direct rays of the sun.
Hard light, with its sharp shadows and intense saturation, can create truly striking images. Though it presents unique challenges such as the rapid drop-off in intensity and the need for additional fill lights, the payoff is well worth the effort. We’ll guide you through navigating these technical hurdles, empowering you to harness the full potential of hard light. We will also discuss how advances in post-processing can automate softening the harsh effects on skin.
Join us for this hands-on shooting workshop where we’ll set up a dynamic shooting environment complete with three hard lights, grip gear, and captivating dancer models. Together we’ll explore how to create visually stunning, high-impact fashion images using these dramatic lighting techniques.
To ensure your success, we’ll kick off the workshop with a Zoom introductory session, where we’ll delve into the theory and best practices of working with hard light. And after the hands-on shooting, we’ll reconvene for a second Zoom session focused on post-processing techniques. This will help you seamlessly integrate the harsh effects of hard light and achieve your desired aesthetic.
