Join Fujifilm photographer Ibarionex Perello for a lecture and street photo walk in Old Town Pasadena.

Workshop Description:
Old Town Pasadena is a place many photographers know well—charming streets, historic architecture, and a steady rhythm of urban life. But even the most familiar location can surprise you when approached with curiosity and intent. In this 3-hour hands-on street photography workshop, instructors Ibarionex Perello and Frank Schlegel will guide you in seeing this well-trodden area through a fresh lens.

With its blend of classic architecture, vintage signage, alleyways, and the ever-changing flow of people, Old Pasadena offers a rich visual canvas. It’s a place where light cuts across brick facades and quiet moments unfold amid the urban hum—ideal for photographers looking to hone their ability to see deeply and intuitively.

This workshop is about more than making interesting photographs—it’s about changing the way you look. Through thoughtful instruction, on-location demonstrations, and guided shooting exercises, Ibarionex and Frank will help you slow down, observe more deeply, and recognize the subtle, fleeting, and often overlooked moments that define a place. Their complementary approaches—grounded in personal vision, narrative, and emotional resonance—offer a powerful foundation for photographers looking to challenge their habits and grow creatively.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to rediscover familiar places by seeing beyond clichés
  • Techniques for working with light, timing, and gesture in dynamic environments
  • Approaches for developing a personal visual language in public spaces
  • Constructive ways to edit and evaluate your work in the field
  • How two photographers interpret the same space differently—and how you can do the same
