Join our LED lighting workshop, where we’ll photograph ballet dancers in motion – the ultimate test of any lighting system and the most exhilarating subject you’ll capture.
This isn’t just another lighting workshop. LEDs enable you to follow the movement with precise beams of continuous light. No more frozen moments hoping you caught the peak action – you’ll see exactly how light sculpts the dancer’s form in real time.
Fire away at 20fps while dancers leap and spin through your frame. What you see is exactly what you’ll capture.
Here’s what your clients really want: seamless stills-to-video capability. Today’s commercial market demands motion content, and LEDs deliver both formats without changing your lighting setup.
One moment you’re capturing that perfect grand jeté in stills, the next you’re rolling 4K video of the same sequence with identical lighting quality.
We’ll master both panel and COB lights, use projection accessories to sculpt shaped light that moves with your dancers, and paint them in any hue instantly with full-spectrum color control.
The “what you see is what you get” advantage transforms your creative process – you’ll craft lighting intuitively, responding to the dancer’s movement.
I’ll share my criteria for selecting LED systems, and a Nanlite representative will join us to answer technical questions about their latest gear.
We’ll hold a Zoom class on Thursday evening, December 11, for logistics and Q&A, then meet on Sunday for our live shoot with ballet dancers. Monday evening, December 15, we’ll cover image selection, delivery to me for post-processing, and creation of a workshop gallery. You’ll also receive individual image feedback by email.
Many of the dancers are teens, but you’ll receive permission to post your images to social media, provided you also send them to me, to be shared with them!
Spaces are limited for this inaugural LED dance workshop. Ready to master the lighting tools that are reshaping our industry?
