Sequoia National Park is a dramatic landscape of giant Sequoia Trees, rugged foothills, deep canyons, and thundering waterfalls that spill off the glacial rock. For the landscape photographer, this a land of majestic scenes that provides a plein air classroom for a visual study of light and shadow among the big trees. You will learn exposure concepts to create photographic art from the lay of giant fuzzy shadows among the halos of twinkling sunlight. Short hikes will position you to explore rushing streams and waterfalls and learn to compose them in splashing detail with a smooth motion to reduce them to visual whispers. We will spend time juxtaposing plane and ground across a John Muir meadow and go eye to eye with a sundown that stretches as far as you can see from Moro Rock to San Joaquin Valley below.
The Sequoia National Park Master Class Photography Workshop is a 5-day full immersion program from August 9-14, 2021 that teaches a capture to post-production workflow to create fine art landscape photography. We are not a photography tour provider; we are a visual arts, photography education program. Thus, you will spend significant time at each location with your instructor to develop a deep understanding of your subject and theme and learn to complete your vision in post-production.
